1. What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep and send back with each request to that site. Local storage (localStorage) is a similar space in your browser where a site can keep data on your device. It is not sent to the server on its own and has no expiry date, so the data stays until it is deleted.
Horus Games uses both, but only for what the site and the games need in order to work: keeping you signed in, saving your progress and remembering your choices. Everything we store is listed below. For how we handle personal data in general, see our Privacy Policy.
2. The only cookie we use
We set one strictly necessary cookie, and only after you sign in to your account. If you play as a guest, no cookies are set at all.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| hg_session | Your sign-in session: it keeps you signed in, so your progress is saved in the cloud and restored on your other devices | 30 days, or until you sign out |
hg_session is a first-party cookie: it is set by horusgames.com and read only by our server. It is marked HttpOnly, which means scripts on the page cannot read it. Its only job is to recognize your sign-in session.
The website is delivered through the Cloudflare network. To protect it from bots and attacks, Cloudflare may set its own strictly necessary security cookies, such as __cf_bm (up to 30 minutes) or cf_clearance (after a browser check). They are not used for advertising and do not track you across other websites.
3. What we keep in local storage
The site and the games save the following entries in your browser’s local storage. They stay on your device. When you are signed in, your progress is also copied to our server as a cloud save, so you can continue on any device.
| Key | Purpose | When it is removed |
|---|---|---|
| horus-games-v1 | Your game profile: coin balance, spins, wins, bonus timers and settings | When you clear site data; signing out replaces it with a fresh guest profile |
| horus-games-horus-v1 | The saved state of Treasures of Horus | When you clear site data; reset when you sign out |
| horus-games-pharaoh-v1 | The saved state of Pharaoh’s Tomb | When you clear site data; reset when you sign out |
| horus-games-rewards | Rank rewards and blessings of the coming games you have already received, so each one is paid only once | When you clear site data |
| horus-games-language | The language you chose | When you clear site data |
| horus-games-entry | Your choice to play as a guest | When you clear site data |
| horus-games-account | Links the progress on this device to your account for cloud save | When you sign out or clear site data |
| horus-games-notices | Which notices you have already closed | When you clear site data |
4. What we do not use
We use no analytics, advertising or social-media cookies, and we do not track you. Our pages load no third-party scripts and use no external content delivery networks (CDNs): all images, fonts and code are served from horusgames.com. This means no other company can set cookies or read storage through our site.
5. The “Cookie settings” button
At the bottom of our pages there is a “Cookie settings” button. On many websites, such a button lets you switch optional categories, such as analytics or advertising, on and off. Ours opens a panel where strictly necessary storage, meaning everything listed above, is always on, and analytics, advertising and social-media cookies are marked as not used. There is nothing optional, so there is nothing to switch off.
Strictly necessary means the service cannot work without it: without hg_session you could not stay signed in, and without local storage the games could not keep your progress.
6. How to manage your data
- Sign out. When you sign out on your account page, the hg_session cookie is removed from your browser. This device returns to a fresh guest profile, and your account progress stays in the cloud. Signing out on all devices ends all of your sessions.
- Clear site data. In your browser settings, open the section on cookies and site data and delete the data for horusgames.com. This removes the cookie and every local storage entry in the table above. You can also clear all browsing data at once, but that affects every site.
- Block storage. Your browser lets you block cookies and site data. If you do, signing in and saving progress will not work.
- Private windows. In a private or incognito window, the browser deletes everything when you close the window, including a guest profile.
7. What you lose when you clear data
To keep guest progress, download a backup file from your profile before clearing data and restore it afterward. Another way is to create an account: your progress is then kept in the cloud.
If you are signed in, clearing data signs you out and deletes the copy on this device, but your account progress stays in the cloud: sign in again and it is restored. Your language choice and closed notices on this device are reset.
8. Changes to this policy
If what we store changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. We will not add optional cookies, such as analytics or advertising, without first updating this policy and asking for your consent.
